Oud Incense Cones

Oud Incense cones burning guide

Are you an incense cone lover but struggle to get the best out of your product? Our Oud Incense Cones are a great alternative to bakhoor.  Read on, as we take you through a step-by-step journey on how to use our oud cones.

If you're looking to enjoy the sweet, smoky smell of oud incense, lighting an incense cone is the way to go. Here's a quick guide on how to do it:

How to use an incense cone

How to light an incense cone

1. Find a heat-safe surface on which to place your incense cone. A ceramic dish or metal holder will work well.

2. Light the tip of the cone with a lighter or match. Hold the flame to the cone for about 10 seconds, or until you see the tip start to glow red.

How to put out and incense cone

3. Blow out the flame and wait for the red ember to cool slightly. This will take a minute or two.

4. Place the glowing ember on your heat-safe surface and enjoy the fragrance wafting through your space!

How long does an incense cone burn

Another important tip is to ensure you do not simply blow the flame out and leave it at that! You must carry on until you see the red ember appear, like igniting coal. This is when the cone is ready to emit its rich aroma and will continue to burn for up to 25 minutes.

We understand that although all the above steps are followed, sometimes the oud cones can stop smoking mid burn. This is due to the nature of the product as all our cones are handmade using Agarwood. Should this issue occur, it can be simply resolved by repeating steps 2-4 in our guide.

Customer Tip

We have had several customers recommending the following steps to increase the longevity of the oud cones.

  1. Start by crushing your oud cone until it forms a powder like texture.

  2. Place it in on a wax melter.

  3. Light a tea light candle and place this inside the melter.

As the candle heats up the melter the oud cone will also heat up and begin to emit its rich fragrance.
